I’m a Registered Dietitian residing in Edmonton, Canada.  I’m also a certified intuitive eating counsellor.

I teach people how to have a healthier, less stressful, more peaceful relationship with food and their bodies.  I teach the principles of intuitive eating (more info on this here) to allow people to rediscover the pleasure of eating, connect to and trust their bodies, honour their natural hunger and fullness signals, and allow full permission to stop dieting, restricting or following any lifestyle plan that has a set of rigid rules to abide by.

I believe wholeheartedly that dieting doesn’t work over the long term.  Ever.  The only consistent and predictable outcome from dieting is weight gain.  It also erodes body trust, self worth, and promotes stress, shame and guilt based behaviours.

My approach to learning to change eating patterns is weight neutral – I believe that all focus on losing weight must be put aside in order to break out of the endless cycle of dieting, cheating, feeling guilty and punishing ourselves.  So... I will never be the person to create a meal plan for you to follow or help you to achieve your weight loss goals.  I will be the person to help you step away from the false idea that weight loss will solve your problems and lead to a more fulfilling life.  As long as we remain trapped in believing this myth, we will always stay stuck.

I've worked in several clinical nutrition settings, and my true love lies in connecting with people and finding the “why” behind their habits and behaviours rather than teaching the mechanics of food and nutrients.  I love to help people who are searching for some peace with food and their bodies and are growing weary of fighting the daily battle.  I love to help them realize that there is a different alternative, and a way off of the merry-go-round that is much more satisfying and sustainable.  I love to see the excitement people feel when they realize that they can find some peace and enjoyment with eating.

There is a growing mountain of evidence that practicing intuitive eating works, and is an excellent predictor of positive health outcomes such as:

Improved: self esteem, body image, body and emotional awareness, emotional functioning, glycemic control

Decreased: overeating, binge eating, disordered eating, body mass index (BMI)

I'm so glad you stopped by and would love to connect with you.

Other Stuff about Me:

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Food & Nutrition from the University of Alberta.   A Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge before that.

I’m a dietitian but I actually don’t love cooking all that much!  I do love to eat though.

I have had my own fair share of disordered eating, body and food struggles for a good chunk of my life, and these experiences continue to teach me lessons daily.

I'm an INFJ (the rarest personality type) and am highly emotionally sensitive.  I've been told that I'm extremely empathetic, warm, genuine and intuitive.

I love to walk, run, read, and if I could have a second career, I would be a psychologist – I find the interconnection of thoughts, feelings and behaviours SO fascinating!
